On Monday 15, August a fire started in the village of Chaqalla, Barwari Balla region that caused a huge damage to the agriculture fields that belongs to Chaqalla village farmers. The damage was extended to the irrigation channels that go through the farms.

 

A vast area of the apple orchards that belongs to Chaqalla villagers has been devastated by the fire. An estimated four thousands apple trees besides hundreds of other fruit trees has burned. Most of the sapling’s for the burned tree were provided by the Assyria Aid Society-America as part of ATHRA project. Also, badly affected by this fire were the water network and the irrigation sprinkler system in the village.
